We are just down I 45 from The Woodlands, close enough that most owners drop the rig off and are home before the coffee goes cold. That proximity is the practical reason a lot of Woodlands coaches end up in our bays rather than at a dealer service department three counties away.
The storage problem, which is really the Woodlands problem
Most Woodlands neighbourhoods will not let you keep an RV on the driveway. So the rig lives in a storage lot and gets used a handful of times a year. That pattern causes a very specific and very predictable set of faults, and almost none of them are what owners expect.
Batteries die first, because sitting at partial charge for months kills them faster than use does. Tyres develop flat spots and the sidewalls age out long before the tread does, which is a blowout waiting to happen at 65 on the interstate. Seals and slide toppers dry and crack because nothing ever moves them. And pests find their way in, chew wiring looms and nest in the furnace ducting, which owners usually discover as a smell rather than a fault.
If your coach has been sitting since spring, a 15 point safety inspection before you travel is the cheapest insurance there is. We look at brakes, tyres, propane, electrical and the roof in one visit.
Trees, shade and roofs
The Woodlands is genuinely wooded, which is lovely to live in and hard on an RV roof. Overhanging pine drops needles and sap that hold moisture against the membrane, branches score the roof on the way into a driveway, and shaded roofs stay damp long enough to streak and grow. Our free roof inspection catches seam separation and sealant failure before water finds the ceiling. Water damage is the repair that turns a small bill into a large one.
Buying new, and warranty work
Plenty of Woodlands owners buy new. Two things worth knowing. First, book a pre delivery inspection before you sign, not after, because a dealer walkthrough is a sales appointment rather than an inspection. Second, we do warranty repair on units still in coverage, so you do not have to drive back to the selling dealer for every fault.
