What Katy owners actually bring us
Insurance and storm work, mainly. Hail and wind damage where the repair needs to be documented properly and argued with an adjuster rather than just patched. Our RV insurance claim estimate is a full written assessment with photographs, and we deal with insurers directly. That is the thing owners cannot get everywhere and it is worth a drive.
The other reason is structural and water damage. Delamination, soft floors, rot in a wall, roof rebuilds. That work needs a shop with the bays and the time to do it properly, and it needs someone who will open it up and tell you the true extent before quoting. Whoever does that job, insist on that.
Long trips and the west side
Katy sits on the route out west, so a lot of rigs here do real distance rather than weekend runs to a state park. Interstate miles change the priorities. Tyres and bearings matter more, chassis repair and brake condition matter more, and windshield replacement becomes routine rather than occasional because I 10 throws stones for hundreds of miles.
If you are heading out on a long trip, the 15 point safety inspection covers brakes, tyres, propane, electrical and the roof in a single visit. It is a far better use of a morning than finding out about any of those somewhere near Fort Stockton.
