Flood exposure does damage in an order that is not obvious. Wiring corrodes at the connectors first and shows up months later as an intermittent fault. Floor structure holds moisture under the covering and softens. Insulation in the walls stays wet and never fully dries in this climate. Appliances that got wet often work for a while and then fail.

Even without flooding, this side of the county is humid and wet enough that anything getting past a seal will not dry out on its own.
